This two-volume manual is intended for beginners in Chinese.

The specificity of this manual is that each volume is composed of sixteen sequences, each sequence of five lessons. Each lesson contains only five new words. The particularity of this structure is that it brings together characters from five different nationalities. These texts are inspired by everyday life in a language both simple and lively. The grammatical part of this manual is based primarily on examples which facilitate understanding of students, especially younger ones.

The author also shows the usual grammatical errors and the most common for foreign students. After each sequence, the author offers a review of grammar. To give the student an overview of Chinese culture, the author has added a brief text on the history, geography or Chinese customs after each sequence. The 400 new words of the sixteen sequences are all among the most common words in Chinese.

Most of these 400 words are part of a lexicon of HSK test (the international test level Chinese). At the end of the study manual, the student is able to sustain a conversation in Chinese. This manual (Volume 2) is accompanied by a CD.
